STAY

-Klaksvík in a boat house on the lake - good for visiting places in Central Faroe and East. 

-Tórshavn, the capital of Faroe. We stayed at Hotel Føroyar good location for visiting places in Central Faroe and West

DO

-Aquarium open sat/sun 

-Skansin Fort

-National museum - kids play area inside

-Take a sea bird boat tour in Vestmanna 

-Walk along the beach at Saksun

-See the famous Múlafossa waterfall 

-Photograph Drangarnir rock formations

-Village the oldest village in Faroe, Tjørnuvík

-Walk from Tórshavn to Kirkjubøur

EAT

-Panamé cafe, Tórshavn - best banana cake with chocolate mousse topping! 

-Norðurlandahúsið, the Nordic house - great environment for kids. 

-Fiskastykkid - delicious food, scandi cool and great kids menu and play area. 

GETTING AROUND

Best to rent a car, can drive through tunnels to get across to most islands. You can also easily drive onto ferries that will take you across to the other, more remote islands. 

BEST TIME TO VISIT

The Summer time, between June and September if you want the possibility of sunny, clear days. Other times of year will be just as good but more likely rainy / cold and possibly snowy. The visibility may not be as good. 

THINGS TO REMEMBER

-Always have your lights on when you drive (same as in Iceland)

-Take waterproofs for hiking (even in Summer!)

-Currency is Danish Kroner

-Direct flights from the UK currently only leave from Edinburgh.
